Report shows high-skilled IT workers in demand

In a new survey, 53 percent of information technology and human resources managers expect to hire IT staff this year, while only 4 percent expect to decrease such staff, according to Boston-based staffing services firm Veritude. However, at the same time, the company said 73 percent of the respondents are having trouble finding candidates for higher level business intelligence and enterprise solutions support positions. Overall, 53 percent are having trouble finding qualified candidates for all information technology jobs and 40 percent say they have hard time finding candidates with specific skills. Of those employers who anticipate increasing their IT staff, 77 percent say they will make permanent hires. Demand for contract or temporary workers remains significant at 45 percent. According to the survey, only 27 percent plan to increase temporary-to-permanent staff. The most in-demand positions named in the report were project managers (31 percent), database administrators (30 percent), system administrators (28 percent), enterprise architects (27 percent), software engineers (27 percent), network engineers (25 percent) and systems analysts (20 percent).

TechSkills’ Indianapolis Campus Approved to Offer Title IV Funds

Indianapolis, IN – June 3, 2008 – TechSkills, LLC announced that its Indianapolis campus has been approved by the US Department of Education to offer Title IV funds to qualified students in TechSkills’ vocational training programs. Title IV funds include but are not limited to Pell Grants and Guaranteed Stafford Loans. “Being able to offer Title IV financial aid to our students is an important achievement for TechSkills. The availability of additional grant and student loan options will enable more students to attend TechSkills, and build the skills they need to begin or advance their careers,” stated Kevin Paulsen, President and CEO of TechSkills.
